A decadently salted take on our surprisingly milky-flavorful 70% Milkyway, Ecuadorian-origin dark chocolate. With a generous drizzle of Himalayan pink salt on the back of the bar, the addition of this simple third ingredient contributes so much more than the sum of the three parts.
As the name suggests, we enjoy likening this bar's flavor journey to a "Milkyway meets Laffy Taffy." Starting off rich and chocolatey – with the contrasting pull of salty whimsy – the flavor slowly melt(d)s into a tart and tangy amalgam of fruity juiciness – sometimes akin to biting into a pomegranate seed.
After hundreds of bars sold and sampled at farmers markets across NYC and New Jersey, our 70% Milkyway has emerged as a divisively beloved fan-favorite, with an equal number of folks who prefer the straightforward fruity allure of our more longstanding bestseller.
Organic Ecuadorian cacao, organic unrefined cane sugar, Himalayan pink salt.
Made in a fully vegan, gluten-free facility powered by 100% renewable wind energy.
EcoCacao, a cacao cooperative in Ecuador's Esmeraldas region, is dedicated to conserving and revitalizing the Punta Galera forest, Ecuador's last significant coastal humid tropical forest. Since 2005, EcoCacao and other UOPROCAE members have collaborated with various NGOs on environmental and cacao-related initiatives, focusing on regenerative agriculture.
This innovative farming approach aims to restore rainforest within cacao farms, contrasting with traditional deforestation practices. However, explicit funding for this project ceased in 2016, highlighting the need for sustainable pricing to support the ongoing training, management, and auditing of regenerative practices. In response, Uncommon Cacao and Endorfin have partnered to offer regenerative premiums, ensuring the project's continuation.
To maintain optimal cacao varieties, EcoCacao identifies and marks the best-performing trees on their farms. Seeds from these trees are used to grow saplings for planting in other areas, helping to preserve genetics well-suited to the local microclimate. This practice is particularly crucial as climate change significantly impacts cacao cultivation in the region.
